Deck Building Tips

Code requirements:
• Railing required if deck is 30"+ above grade
• Railing height: 36" (residential), 42" (commercial)
• Baluster spacing: 4" max gap
• Ledger board: properly flashed and attached

Material recommendations:
• Ground contact PT lumber for posts
• Above ground PT or composite for decking
• Stainless or coated fasteners
